Placemaking goes beyond creating great buildings and public space. It is about capitalising on our local neighbourhood assets and aspirations to generate an authentic sense of community that is part of Barking and Dagenham. Future City aim to create and deliver the cultural strategy for Barking Riverside London, which supports and promotes people’s happiness, well-being, supporting a holistic approach in becoming a HNT and enshrines community engagement alongside embedded arts delivery and cultural partnership brokering.

A Culture and Placemaking Strategy sets out a vision for Riverside as an exemplary 21st century eco-district on all accounts; inspiring, sustainable design and creative content across public realm, community, commerce and connectivity. The strategy takes the long-term view of creating a thriving new district for Barking and Dagenham and London through networked culture, commerce, home life and the natural environment.
